Marion Fry (79)

Marion Fry (79)  was born in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Clayton Joseph Fry and Edith Brendlinger Fry on November 29, 1935. Her parents, brothers and sister moved from the east coast to Fresno after World War II. Her two older brothers would join the family in Fresno after being honorably discharged from the United States Navy.

Marion graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954 and received her bachelors degree from the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. She later earned her masters degree in education while serving the Lord in the missionary work. Marion arrived in the Philippines in 1965, ready to use her gifts and passion to serve others. For 49 years, she was a huge blessing to all she came in contact with, primarily in counseling missionary kids.

In her later years her diminishing role at Faith Academy didn’t slow her down. She started teaching a 9-year old dyslexic boy one hour a day, having regular Bible Studies with four teenage girls, meeting regularly with her church group, attending Tagalog lessons twice a week and was hoping to lead a ladies’ Bible study with Faith Academy employees.

On the morning of Thursday, October 1, 2015, 60 days shy of her 80th birthday, Ms. Marion Fry went home to be with Our Lord. We have lost a wonderful person and friend here on earth, one who cared deeply for others. She will be deeply missed but we rejoice that she is now at rest and with the Lord. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

Marion was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Clayton Joseph Fry Jr., Robert Fry, James Fry Sr. and sister Eileen Porter.

Marion is survived by one brother, Alban Taylor Fry and his wife Dororthy of Carson City. Six nephews, James Fry Jr., Clayton Joseph Fry III, Robert Fry, Jack Porter Jr., Matt Fry and Greg Fry. Four nieces, Jolaine Cornwell, Edee Manfredo, Kathleen LeBlanc and Lori Larson. And several grand nephews and nieces, even great-grand nephews and nieces.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2015, there will be a memorial service for her at Faith Academy at 3pm in Cadd Theater. As she wished, her ashes will be spread in the courtyard at the school. A Fry family memorial here in the United States is being planned to honor Marion in the next couple months by her brother and nephews.

The family requests that any remembrances be made to the Faith Academy School by clicking here.
